Spatial Wave, Inc. Announces Cachuma Operations And Maintenance Board Has Implemented Field Mapplet®/ USA.

Laguna Hills, CA – January 30, 2010
Spatial Wave™, Incorporated has worked with Cachuma Operations and Maintenance Board (COMB) to implement Spatial Wave™, Inc.’s Field Mapplet®/ Underground Service Alert (FM®/USA) solution. FM®/USA provides full support of DigAlert tickets also known as USA (Underground Service Alerts) tickets. The one call center receives calls from throughout Southern California in a process that is also known as “call before you dig”. COMB receives the USA tickets from the one call center and subsequently locates and marks out its own facilities. These tickets enable COMB to safeguard the public, environment, property and utility infrastructures in their region. Field Mapplet®/ USA is Spatial Wave’s systematic management of the one-call ticket workflow. It provides for rule based filtering of tickets which eliminates unnecessary locates and optimizes locator assignment.Field Mapplet®/USA receives COMB’s USA tickets from the one-call center and utilizes spatially enabled rules, allocating tickets into queues and determining proximity to COMB facilities using GIS technology. COMB’s locators upload completed tickets and download new tickets to/from Board’s server similar to checking emails. Locators can view ticket information, optimize routing, enter actions and comments and are able to quickly zoom to the ticket location and view detailed street or facility maps on their GPS enabled tablet PC. All ticket information is stored in a database for archival, querying and reporting. In addition COMB had presented the process of FM®/USA at the 2009 Ventura Regional World GIS Day event. Field Mapplet®/USA provides COMB with a single application framework to manage their USA tickets from origination to archive. Improvements in the efficiency of the USA ticket workflow will support the demands on the locators within the Department. For more information on the Field Mapplet®, Field Mapplet®/USA and other Field Mapplet® workflow extensions, please visit Spatial Wave™’s website or call 949-465-3400.

Field Mapplet® is a spatially-enabled mobile application framework designed to automate utility workflows between the office and the field. The latest release of Field Mapplet® has included some major enhancements for both the end-user and administrator. Some of the enhancements include powerful facility network tracing. Field Mapplet 2.0 not only has the ability to do line isolation, for water, but also up stream/down stream tracing for sewer and storm drains. Many user centric enhancements have been made to simplify the use of the application including rapid startup and activation of the interface. A key enhancement has been the ability to provide data sharing by all mobile and office users when it comes to editing and adding GIS data. The core Field Mapplet® framework still includes: dispatching, custom workflows, navigation, routing, facility atlas viewing, as-built and engineering drawing access, and redlining of GIS data.
